Easy for you to say... ebayer.
Anyways what does ebay have to do with helping Zinger314 decide what to do with his/her 270k? Nothing... I'm not saying it's a bad subject. It's just not the subject here. So plz start a new thread if you want to talk about it.

Well, feh! I know a mod on these forums and he has about 80 million!
I don't ... I'm still scavenging money together for my 15k armor for my new monk. Beh, you guys have it easy. I don't have a super 55hp monk or a W/Mo.
I suggest, start buying random junk off random people. That way they'll be happy and you'll be happy that you made someone happy. Right?

PM me and you can see it any time. It's sitting on a character I rarely use anymore.
Just because you and a few people over a LBS (who've got a horrid rep of "stealing" 15 ecto from people) may be rich from regular gameplay, but you've already admitted to knowing those ebayers. You hang out with a worst crowd than most because I only know the trader reseters.

yeah stealing ectos.... people voluntarily handed over 15 ectos and never once complained is now called stealing. A horrid reputation lolz, i think we have one of the best reputations for trustworthyness in the game, i and many others have been involved in gold and item transfers which run into the hundreds of k and also get paid in advance. Not one incident of scamming.
knowing people does not mean i hang out with them. dunow how you reached that conclusion. i know many ebayers and guess what i also hate some of them. knowing people does not mean they are my friends or i hang out with them. and last time i checked abusing an exploit was a bannable offence along with ebaying...
why bring lbsra into it, its not like we are the only millionaires from regular gameplay. pvpers have made millions, power traders, farmers, people getting lucky drops.
ill look for you ingame. ill pay after i see it as i have an excellent reputation for trustworthyness.
like loviator said maybe wait till chapter 3 if nothing you like atm

Some rich people who have nothing left to buy for themselves become Philanthropic. You could start giving it away. (no, not to me or anyone that asks you for it). Instead, you could do "random acts of kindness". Maybe you are in a good PUG, if you see some exceptional players maybe give them some gold and say "good job!" and then go on you merry way. Maybe you see someone in a town and you just know they are a new person, buy them a decent weapon or crafting materials and say "good luck and have fun!" Do something nice for someone who is not expecting it.

giving stuff away ftw. feels really good to give someone the gold for their first set of 1.5k/15k or something. buying usuable items and giving them to poor people you know etc is also nice.

I give away stuff but I like to have fun at the same time.
You see whenever I get a FDS that isn't that valueable/ I'm to lazy to sell, I go to Ascalon and say giving away free FDS to the first person to find me and I hide near the great northern wall. About 50 wammos pm me later saying "Where are you?" "Can I have it?" "I searched everywhere where are you?" "I'll take it PLZZZZ"
Its fun and someone gets the sword of their dreams.....till they relieze that FDS aren't that good.

some things liek your monk need more than just a 15k set and a set of perf weapons. if youre doing pvp wit hyour monk, then you need ALOT more than just that. my monk has well over 1 million in her (not counting the FoW armor) in different armors/scalp designs/weapon sets/-energy sets/shields/etc... that i would ever need for pvp in case the situation comes up. and thats just my monk. my ele, ranger, assassin, and mesmer ALL have a similar setup based on their class and what ever i could run into pvp wise.
so there are many things you can still do for your character with that 270k

Having some inventory / storage space is nice, though. :\

1. seems like gloating?? mabey, mabey not
2.at the start of factions i had 360K and now i got 350k, i spent 340k on armours etc blablabla weapons and so on with 2 accounts, and well wat else to do part from help guildies, mates, and ofcourse repeat the elite missions with the monk
3. help other guildies get the things you have and take for granted, remember there are other players without the same luck as you, or who dont play as much, why not make there day and give THEM some dosh to buy that 15k armour
4. create a guild? mabey 2 (a trusted friend to lead the second), 1 guild that helps new players and when they reach a certain lvl, or understanding of the game, move them to the proffesional guild that does stuff like GvG, AB, farming, Exploring etc (seen some guy recruiting with a guild that did the whole training up thing, and is an idea of mine that i might do, when given the time)
hope that helps you

After selling the Totem Axe for ridicolous amount and getting on the enemy vs. enemy farming bandwagon, I now have quite the sum. I have 270k, which is probably more than atleast 90% of the users.
However, I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to purchase.
The problem lies in the fact that there's nothing substantial (for primary casters) to buy inbetween 15k Armor and FoW Armor. A full set of 15k costs 75k (or 155k if you involve Luxon/Kurzick Armor) while a full set of FoW costs more than 1 million+ gold. That's quite a big gap.
In-between this gap, there are weapons with special skins that can be purchased. Perfect Celestial, Perfect Zodiac, Kanaxi's, and Urgoz's weapons are good examples. However, only Warriors, Rangers, and Assassins are overly dependant on weapons. So how do casters spend huge chunks of moola?
My main, as you see from the avatar, is a Necromancer. She sports 15k Canthan and has perfect Weapons for all 3 Necromancer Attributes (even that overpriced Ghial's Staff.)
My other main, a Ritualist, sports 15k Kurzick, dyed completely black, and also has a set of perfect weapons (fortunately, that's very easy, since Restoration and Channeling rely on Ashes. )
Another one of my characters, my Monk, sports 15k Saintly, dyed black, and also has a set of perfect weapons.
My Elementalist (which sports 15k Pyromancer), my Warrior, and my Ranger have been put on hold indefinately since no one seems to want them in groups.
Now you see the problem. All my central chaarcters already have 15k Armors (with expensive dyes!) and perfect weapons. There's nothing for me to buy.
What exactly do casters do with large sums of money?
|
Make a tank or start a nice weapon collection? I mean you can't never have enough of those rare-skin drops. With 270k, you can buy a mini bone dragon? From what you're saying, all your character is loaded and ready to go. So you should just either collecting mini pets or weapon collection.

I recommend buying iron from the material trader and driving the sale price up, then destroy the stacks. Spend all 270k doing that.

Or...
Throw a party! Have people spell out your name and take a screenie of the thing then post it here on Guru or wherever.
Organize some competition/event and use the money for prizes!
You could also spend it on errand boys to fetch you useless junk like Althea's ashes and Evennia's secret letter or whatever.

Or you could hire all of us as your GW timeshare advisors, we'll calculate how you'll spend your money, and take a percentage. Then we'll set you up to vacation at all the luxurious locations in GW for Cantha and Tyria. See the sights, sleep in the best cities, fight the best monsters, use the best weapons and armors, and we'll spend your money for you.

well you can always achieve your drinking title, wisdom, treasure hunter, buy all skills for all professions, cap al elites (i bet you dont have enough skill points to do it tho 700+ skills), and if thats not enough do it with a couple of chars, i bet you can get to 0 money in no time.
ahhh and BTW 270k is not a huge amount of money, that can be achieved with ease in a week or two.
